University Of Derby - Im still waiting for the University to get back to me to rearrange my Interview Date

University Of Lincoln on the 22nd January invited me for an interview on the 9th March 

Nottingham Trent University on the 28th January requested a Digital Portfolio which had to have the following requirements:

Your submission is an opportunity for you to showcase your work.
We would like to see 12 examples of your practical work and a piece of written work. These should be submitted as two separate files.
FILE 1 – practical work
You should include a variety of work such as:
• observational drawing / painting / illustration;
• research and idea development using analysis and visualisation; • evidence of design process;
• finished project work.
Please submit your practical work as a Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Quicktime presentation. It should be:
• no more than 12 slides (to describe your process and how you develop ideas, you can include multiple images on each slide, plus short descriptions);
• submitted as a single unzipped file not exceeding 10mb (megabytes). Where images are inserted into a presentation they must be:
• in JPEG format;
• a maximum of 72 dpi (dots per inch).
FILE 2 – written work
• UK / EU applicants
Please supply a short written summary (500 words maximum) of the work you are submitting. This can include project briefs if available.
• International applicants
Please submit a piece of written work (from your current / previous course) to show the Admissions Tutors how you express yourself in English (approximately 500 words in length). Please save your written work as a Microsoft Word file.

What we are looking for in your work submission
• Your ability to source design ideas from a range of research activities;
• your use of a visible design process for idea development;
• your willingness to experiment using a range of media, materials and technologies; 
• skills in observational drawing;
• effectiveness of final design outcomes and presentation of work;
• the ability to express your ideas confidently in writing. 

I had to Submit this by the 11th of February. Then on Monday the 22nd February I received a letter Inviting me for an Interview on the 16th March at 1:30 However I was going to be impossible for me to get to Nottingham in time after my Sheffield Interview at 10:00. After A couple of phone calls I have now arrange my Interview for the 21st March

APPLICATION ADVICE

Preparing your portfolio for Interview

This is always a tricky one to get right, what to put in, what to leave out…what we would say is bring only what is relevant to the work you are showing us in the portfolio. Be concise don’t ‘pad’ the portfolio out.

Work that shows an application of design within a communication context is preferred. However it’s not just Graphic Design that we are interested in, Photography, Painting, 3D, Fashion and Textiles, and Sculpture are all relevant, and can enhance your application. We are looking for your passion and creativity to shine through in the portfolio. We want to be able to follow your creative journey from the beginning through to the final piece so don’t just bring us the finished work. Include unedited sketchbooks if you can, (sometimes ‘mistakes’ are as interesting as ‘successes’ so please leave everything in).

Your portfolio should contain a range of design work that reflects your ability to apply analytical and creative thought processes to solve design and communication problems. It should also demonstrate engagement with a variety of media and production techniques, and associated craft skills. We are looking for the following…

Sketchbooks and preparatory work showing evidence of your creative ideas and development through:

• Primary and secondary research, (did you look further than ‘Google’ for example)?
• Evidence of you developing ideas visually and exploring alternative solutions by sketching, drawing, trying different kinds of materials.
• Intelligent analytical annotation, we’d like you to comment on why you did something not simply describe what you have done.
• Evidence of you exploring and working in a range of different media (both 2 and 3D)
• Final ideas.

• The final piece/s

We don’t need you to mount your work on card or put it in plastic sheets. Neatly collated, clearly labelled and placed in order is all that we require (as this makes it easier for us to look through your work).

Questions we ask ourselves when looking at your portfolio are: How original is this work? Does it surprise and delight us? How many ideas are there here? Has the applicant played safe or have they taken risks and really explored their ideas. What range of materials is evident in the portfolio? Can we see a passion for things creative in the work? (This could be in a range of media and areas not just Graphics). How did the ideas develop, is there evidence of a creative journey? Think about how the work you include in your portfolio answers some or all of these questions.

If you don’t have everything listed here don’t worry, every applicant will have an opportunity to talk to us and discuss his or her work and ideas, (it’s the interview that can sometimes persuade us we’d like to offer you a place, even if your work is not as complete as we’d ideally like to see).

Please think about what you want to tell us about your work, what you want to say about each piece in the portfolio, be prepared to discuss this with us at interview.

Changing Perceptions through Advertising - Research Being Human

Documentaries on Channel 4 are sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors where moving the camera angle that made an screen angle that not make sense to then create a final image that makes sense using a range of shapes, water and painting. To create the videos no camera effects was added through CGI. I was then scrolling through Facebook and came across this video made by the Scout Association (Link Here). To test this I used a cutting from a newspaper

I also found the Lacoste TV advert which was developed by a designer called Zoer.

For my Being human project I am thinking of creating an installation that has a perspective effect to the final artwork.

I then came across hologram videos and how we can make a hologram using our phone so I watched a video on how to make the video using adobe Premiere Pro and how to make the hologram monitor.

Nottingham Trent Digital Portfolio Files Submission

To upload my files to blogger i would have to save each individual slide as an image. to see time i have created  Padlet where I have uploaded the Documents that I submitted to Nottingham Trent.

Now I have submitted my digital portfolio I will continue to work on my Portfolio for my university Interviews and wait and see if I get an Interview at Nottingham trent University..

Live Drawing Session 12

2nd to last week of life Drawing and on Friday I continued to use a stick and charcoal for my research for the being human project and to develop some more portfolio pieces. Like last week I have developed some more portfolio work. The quality of my drawings are a lot stronger and I am a lot more confident. 

I then tried to use my phone, using the Adobe Capture Application to create a vector image of my life drawing and this is what the app Produced
