Can we see the effects of Global
Warming? We live each day burning fuels and using unnecessary power supplies
that are slowly running out, without thinking of the consequences to the
environment and the different animals that inhabit the Earth. For my Final Major
project, I am going to design and produce an installation that informs the
viewers the adverse effects of Global warming. Global warming is a massive
subject that need to be brought to people’s attention. I will focus on the
effects global warming is having on the habitat of the polar bear, which has
recently become an endangered species. For the installation I am going to
perception to get the message across to the views because the perception of the
installation changes depending on the angle the viewer looks at the information
presented within the installation, and at a specific angle all the different
sections come together to create one final design.
For the perspective installation
theme for my project, I was influenced by the channel 4 Mitsubishi adverts
created by Golley Slater with the use of
having the individual scenes set up and come together when the camera angle
changes to create the final image. Another example of the perception changing
advert is the Lacoste advert designed by Zoer using the different wall
faces. For information about the
endangered species and the causes and effects of global warming I am going to
use WWF and the National Geographic websites. Throughout the project I will
continuously refer to artists such as Aaron James Draplin and Albert Exergain
who I constantly gain inspiration off to develop the quality of my work. With
my chosen pathway being graphic design I want to design a range of graphic
elements such as typographic, infographics, branding, which will all be
presented within the installation.
For the designing the different
elements of the perspective installation design I will use the Adobe Creative
Cloud Software’s, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to produce high quality
graphics to ensure that the graphics stand out to the viewer and encourage the
viewer to find out more. To generate the colour scheme for my project I am
going to use Adobe Kuler, to ensure that I am going to use complementary
colours. I will also use a range of materials such a wood, paint and fishing
wire to create the installation. My intention for this project is to challenge
myself, pushing my creative ability using different media rather than just
using the graphic based software’s. Using the software’s will allow me to
produce work of a high standard effectively, within my timescale for the
project. The time scale for my project can be found in the appendix.
To ensure that my project work and
research is kept to a high standard and meeting my timescale I will be
continuously reflecting on my work within my reflective practice book. Throughout I will also have my peers to look at my work
to give me an outsider’s perspective.

Timeline
Week 1 – Using the research that I
have gathered I will evaluate, the research and start to generate my initial
designs ideas to start my project developing in the correct direction.
Continuously throughout this project I will extend my research when required to
develop my knowledge and skills.
Week 2 – Continuing my research into
the effects of global warming and start to research in to different methods of
perception installations. Continue developing my initial ideas.
Week 3 – Trial a method of the
perception installation using a range of materials such as paint and cardboard
and see if the perception method works and then evaluate the design in my
reflective practise book.
Week 4 – Develop my design ideas
using the creative Cloud software’s and gain feedback from my peers for my
initial ideas after I have presented them using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
Illustrator. Evaluate in reflective
practice my work from the feedback from my peers.
Week 5 – Using my feedback from my
fellow peers I will develop my designs from the feedback and continue
researching and trialling different perspective methods and looking at optical
illusions.
Week 6 – During week 6 I will trial the different optical illusion
methods and see if they would be an effective method of presenting the logo for
the project within my final perspective installation. Evaluate within
reflective practice book.
Week 7 – Conclude my research and
start finalising my designs choosing which perspective installation methods I am
going to use and where I am going to install them.
Week 8 – In the final week of my
project I will set up my final perspective installation to a high quality. Once
the installation is installed I will the evaluate my final design against my
statement of intent to see if I have managed to keep to what I have stated.
